Beekeeping supplies: Honey Extractors

A vintage industrial extractor. Home beekeepers thankfully don't need anything this massive!

The Honey Extractor

A honey extractor is an electric or hand-powered mechanical device that uses centrifugal force to extract honey from honeycombs. When used properly, the extractor will not destroy the comb. A typical extractor consists of a cylindrical drum holding a spinning basket that contains beehive frames. When the basket spins, the honey is flung to the inner walls. It then drips down to be collected through a tap. Using this device, the wax comb stays intact within the frame can be reused by the bees.
