Do bumble bees sting?

Like other types of bees, the queen and the worker bumble bee can sting, but unlike a honey bee stinger, a bumble bee stinger does not have any barbs (which makes the stinger get stuck in your skin), so the bumble bee can sting over and over without injuring itself. Unlike the killer bee, many species of bumble bee are not particularly aggressive. However, they will sting in defense of their hive or nest, or if they feel like they are in danger.
